American History Consultant (Part-Time/1099)

Becker Digital seeks a part-time American History Consultant (1099) to support heritage-focused initiatives tied to the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The consultant will help communities highlight nationally significant stories and strengthen heritage tourism strategies through workshop facilitation, event planning, and historical guidance.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in History, American Studies, Public History, Museum Studies, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in public history, cultural heritage, or community engagement. Expertise in the Colonial, Revolutionary, and Early Republic periods is strongly preferred, as is the ability to translate historical knowledge into engaging workshops and actionable community planning outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver educational workshop content.

  • Facilitate discussions that help community partners explore and share historically significant narratives tied to the Colonial, Revolutionary, and Early Republic periods.

  • Provide guidance on integrating historical interpretation with heritage tourism initiatives.

  • Support event planning activities, including coordination of participant invitations, registrations, and evaluations.

  • Produce a written report summarizing workshop outcomes, community feedback, and recommendations for future initiatives.

  • Collaborate with project staff to ensure workshops meet program goals and participant needs.

  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in all client and community interactions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in History, American Studies, Public History, Museum Studies, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated professional experience in public history, cultural heritage, education, or community engagement.

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.

  • Must be located in the United States to satisfy the location requirements of this contract.

Compensation:
1099 Position – Rates based on experience and qualifications.

Location:
Remote; occasional travel to the Mid-Atlantic region
